Young Danes to Sail at Langkawi

Langkawi, Malaysia, will host the Optimist Dinghy World Cup from December 28 2010 to January 8 2011.

Here, Denmark will be represented by five talented young sailors. 15-year-olds Amalie Stubdrup, Kristian Lyhne Bonde and Frederik Rask together with 14-year-olds Ulrich Svarrer and Sejer Tobiasen will defend the red and white colours at the event.

The team has to pay for all expenses for the trip to Langkawi by themselves. Therefore they have been searching for sponsors to help with the costs.

Now, the team has found two new sponsors, Palle P – a clothing company – and the sports and fashion company New ShipShape.

“Sponsorships are a crucial factor for the team’s participation. With the fine sponsorships from Pelle P and New ShipShape, the team has achieved the desired profile around the official World Cup dress,” says Steven Svarrer, who works for the Danish World Cup team, in a press release.
