Maersk Names New Country Manager

Maersk Line has appointed Bjarne Foldager as its new country manager for Malaysia and Singapore.


Bjarne will be responsible for the development and execution of strategy, overseeing sales, operations and customer service. He will take up the position with effect from January 15. He will be based in Kuala Lumpur.


Bjarne first joined the A P Moller-Maersk Group in 1991, holding various leadership positions in different business units over more than 19 years.


Prior to assuming this role, Bjarne was the managing director for A P Moller Singapore. He was also the global head for Maersk crew management headquartered in Singapore and responsible for manning of the fleet owned by Maersk Line, Maersk Tankers and Maersk Supply Service.


Before coming to Singapore, Bjarne headed fleet management in Copenhagen with overall responsibility for Maersk Line’s entire fleet of owned and chartered container vessels.


Bjarne replaces Omar Shamsie, who will move to Dubai to take on the position of regional head of Maersk Line in West & Central Asia.
