DANIDA supports flood protection in VN

DANIDA along with the Danish Flooding Agency A/S help Vietnam to provide new technology for flood protection barrier instead of using sandbags.
In preventing yearly flood disasters, Vietnam will begin using a new kind of protection barrier, which is the new dam designed to control flash floods, rather than the traditional sandbags.
The barrier is made of two PE/PP tubes, with an impermeable inner liner and a durable outer layer, which is particularly suitable for Viet Nam’s coastal regions, notably Hue City in central Thua Thien-Hue Province and Hoi An Ancient Town in central Da Nang City, where dikes are ineffective, said Dang Quang Tinh, director of the Department for Dyke Management and Flood Control.
The Danish Flooding Agency A/S and Danish Development Agency DANIDA support the necessary technology for the dam construction. Niel-Erik Jensen, director of Flooding Agency A/S, stated that his group is currently sharing this technology with two companies in Vietnam and is also looking for Vietnamese partners to produce the material in the country.
