September 7 Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen participated in the opening ceremony of Mengniu-Arla Nutrition Research Centre in Beijing.

The new Nutrition Centre focuses on creating better nutrition for children and mothers and to contribute to research and development of infant formula. Vice President of Arla, Frede Juulsen, CEO of Mengniu-Arla, Simon Tao and the President of Mengniu Dairy, Yang Wenjun also participated in the opening ceremony.

Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen said at the opening, that Arla is known for its social responsibility and commitment to projects, which supports research and contributes to the development of increasing health and nutrition standards and commitment to food safety.

The new Nutrition Centre increases the research co-operation between China and Denmark and will become a foundation for research support to other organisations and development of products to children and mothers – including infant formula.

“Arla has with this new research initiative taken an ambitious step in its co-operation with China. The research co-operation will receive large attention in China, and it can hopefully lead to new knowledge, which can improve children and mothers nutrition. It’s not surprising to see this initiative, since the co-operation between China and Denmark through the years has increased – also in areas with focuses on food safety, which always has been a political priority in Denmark,” said Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen.
