Maersk eyes expansion in Indonesia

The AP Møller Maersk group is to work with Indonesian port operator Pelindo II on infrastructure investments in the country.

Nils Andersen, CEO of the Danish shipping giant that owns Maersk Line, Safmarine and intra-Asia line MCC, said the group wanted to extend Maersk’s footprint in Indonesia.

He said: “Indonesia is already an important market for Maersk, and we are interested in committing more resources to expand our operations in the country.”

A signed memorandum of understanding outlines a plan for the training and development of Pelindo II staff, as well as providing consultancy support in boosting operational efficiencies at one of the local operator’s facilities.
