Aker Kvaerner wins power boiler contract in Indonesia

Kvaerner Power, a subsidiary of Norwegian industrial group Aker Kvaerner, has signed a power boiler contract worth more than EUR 40 million with an Indonesian pulp and paper mill in early July.
Under the contract, Kvaerner Power will deliver a 520 mega watt thermal capacity CYMIC® boiler with the latest circulating fluidized bed technology. The main fuels are coal and bark and the boiler is expected to be ready for operation in spring 2006.
According to Kvaerner Power, the undisclosed Indonesian customer has chosen the company as its technology provider several times, among them the supply of three large recovery boilers and an evaporation plant in the 1990s.
The contract strengthens Kvaerner Power’s market share as a supplier of high-technology and environmentally sound boiler plants. This also confirms Kvaerner Power’s worldwide position as a major supplier and expert of the large scale fluidized bed combustion for pulp and paper industry and power producers, says Lennart Ohlsson, president of Kvaerner Power.
The Indonesian power boiler will be about the same size as the Alholmens Kraft’s 550 mega watt CYMIC® boiler in Finland, which is the world’s largest biomass-fired circulating fluidized bed boiler.
