Recently the Danish Ambassador to Thailand Mikael Hemniti Winther made a courtesy call to the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Mr. Chalerm Ubumrung. The Meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment to the good long-stand bilateral relations.
During the meeting the political and economic situations in Thailand were discussed – as well as the government’s political initiatives. The political development was the main focus area, and among other things the Ambassador asked for the Deputy Prime Minister’s evaluation of the country’s stability and the economic policies – including the environment for foreign investments. Additionally, other subjects were discussed such as corruption and the fight against illegal drugs in Thailand.
After their conversation Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm handed the Ambassador a photo of himself and his family taken during his stay in Denmark. He explained how he and his family attained political asylum in Denmark for a shorter period of time in the beginning of the 1990’s. He made it clear that he still thinks of Denmark with warm feelings and consider it his second home country.
The meeting was held in a warm atmosphere and a friendly connection was strengthened.
