Nokia English languageaward ceremony held

The award ceremony for an English language competition launched by Finnish communications manufacturer Nokia Corp was held on Sept 25 in Beijing.

At the ceremony, two winners, from Beijing and Shenzhen, shared their English-learning experiences using a mobile phone platform developed by Nokia. Phil Kemp, the vice-president of Nokia China, said the mobile platform focuses on the health, agricultural, entertainment and education industries. “During the two-month-long program, about 400,000 Chinese people experienced the new service every day,” Kemp said.

Nokia released the short-message-based service in the country on May 7, saying that the platform will mainly target subscribers living in China’s rural areas.
