Swedish Minister for Employment visits China

The Swedish Minister for Employment, Hillevi Engström, has been invitited by China’s Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Yin Weimin to visit China between October 23 and 28.


The two ministers will meet in Beijing to discuss common challenges in the areas of employment, labor rights, occupational safety and health, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).


During her visit in Beijing, Hillevi Engström is also going to meet with Swedish students studying in China, as well International Organization for Migration to discuss international cooperation between the EU and China within the field of labor migration.


Hillevi Engström will also visit a number of companies with connection to Sweden, amongst them Assa Abloy, Ericsson, Mercuri Urval, and a factory supplying products for H&M, to discuss issues such as CSR, occupational safety and health, labor rights, and competens on the Chinese labour market.


In Shanghai, the minister will visit a public employment agency to learn more about China’s work on labour market matching, occupational training, and unemployment insurance issues.


Furthermore, the minister is going to pay a visit to the Swedish Institute’s exhibition “Eco Chic” followed by a round table discussion with Swedish experts on sustainability in the fashion industry. In connection to this, she will also meet with Chinese media to talk about sustainability, labor rights, and occupational health and safety.
