Claus Rasmussen, a 45 years old Danish diver who was involved in the Tham Luang rescue project, was robbed in Nakhon Si Thammarat, in the South of Thailand on Tuesday, 5 February 2019.
On the day of the incident, Mr. Rasmussen took three foreign tourists from Holland, Russia and Malaysia for a scuba diving lesson which lasted about 45 minutes at the coast in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
When he returned to his Virgo truck parked near the area, he found the door of truck had been opened and the cash and his mobile phone stolen.
Mr. Rasmussen told the police that he hid the keys of his truck under a rubber sheet at the back of the truck and the thief might use this key to open the door because when he came back the key was gone.
A large contingent of police with forensics officers led by Pol Col Preecha Panyalert launched an investigation at the scene.
According to the police, missing was 600 baht from Mr. Rasmussen, 7,000 baht from company money, an iPhone plus, and 30,000 baht and a One Plus phone belonging to the man from Holland. It was all worth 50,000 baht.
Only the air tanks left in the back of the pickup was apparently of no interest to the thief.
