The Embassy of Finland in Hanoi has nominated artist Maritta Nurmi “Creative Person of the Year” on Wednesday, 18 December 2012.
Nurmi has lived and worked in Vietnam for 18 years. Her artistic practice includes painting and installation. She has held nearly 20 solo exhibitions in Finland, Vietnam, Thailand, Sweden, and the United States.
With the nomination – and with the cultural program of the 40th anniversary of Finland-Vietnam ties – the Embassy wants to raise the profile of culture in the relationship between the two countries.
Nurmi’s nomination for the “Creative Person of the Year” opens a new tradition that will continue also in the coming years.
