An Asian pop-up food market will return to Kolding in early February, offering local residents access to Asian groceries and kitchenware usually found only in Denmark’s larger cities.
AsiaTorvet, a mobile Asian food retailer, will open a temporary shop in Kolding from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 February at Det Gamle Posthus on Mazantigade. The pop-up will be open daily from 10:00 to 17:00.
According to the organisers, the concept was created to bring Asian food products closer to people living outside major urban centres such as Copenhagen and Aarhus.
“Our experience is that many customers miss access to basic Asian ingredients in smaller towns,” the company says. “We bring a selection of everyday staples as well as new and trendy products inspired by social media.”
In addition to food items, the pop-up shop will also offer Asian tableware and ceramic products from selected manufacturers.
Kolding has previously hosted the pop-up twice, both times attracting strong interest. The organisers note that Asian cuisine continues to grow in popularity in Denmark, driven by its emphasis on vegetables, lighter cooking styles and online food inspiration.
The venue is located next to Kolding railway station, with parking access from the nearby bus terminal. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own shopping bags.
Those unable to attend can also shop via AsiaTorvet’s online store.
