Cargotec lands major deck equipment contract in China

MacGregor, part of Finland’s Cargotec, has received a deck equipment order for eight bulk carriers currently under construction in China.Cargotec_2

The vessels are being built for a Cyprus-based shipping company, Lemissoler Navigation (Front Marine). The delivery of the first two vessels is scheduled around August 2015.

MacGregor will deliver for each vessel a complete equipment package comprising electric pole-changing winches, steering gear, air compressors, hatch covers and four variable frequency drive (VFD) electric cranes.

MacGregor, Kalmar and Hiab are Cargotec’s business areas, which deliver cargo and load handling solutions. The received order is based on the company’s expanded offering, which combines MacGregor’s and Hatlapa’s portfolios. MacGregor acquired the privately-owned Hatlapa, a leading provider of deck equipment, last summer.

— The order is a good example of what our combined product ranges can offer customers, particularly in cases such as this where an extensive scope of deck equipment is required for multiple ships, says Jörg Tollmien, Head of Sales for the Hatlapa offering at MacGregor.
