China completes successful test flight using biofuel

China is now the fourth country in the world to have developed aviation biofuel, after Finland the United States, and France. China Eastern Airlines on 24 April completed its first test flight which used a new aviation biofuel developed by Sinopec, China’s top oil refiner, reports Shanghai Daily.

An Airbus 320 took 85 minutes to complete the test flight using the aviation biofuel after taking off from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport early yesterday morning.

The biofuel produced enough power during the test flight and “was no different from traditional fuel,” the pilot of the test flight said in a statement.

China Eastern later announced its commercial flights will use the biofuel since the test was successful.
