The Malaysian Danish Business Council held a unique and entertaining dinner show at the Danish residence yesterday, June 11, with guest speaker Thomas Brandt, GM of the German Chamber of Commerce and Author of the book “China in Those Days”.
This book illustrates early Chinese life through more than 1.600 postcard images from what is probably the largest collection of images on old China and Chinese overseas.
The historical picture journey spans the late 1890s into the first decades of the 20th century, an era when it was a privilege to send and receive postcards from exotic Asia. Thomas entertained the audience during the dinner, showing many picturesque postcards and tell us a lot of interesting facts and anecdotes on the history of the overseas Chinese, in Malaysia and around the world.
