Myanmar-Nordic Liaison Ltd. – a company owned by three experienced Danish Partners – establishes permanent office location and physical presence on Strand Road in the heart of Myanmar’s commercial hub Yangon.
MNL, the only Nordic company of its kind dedicated to promoting business and investment opportunities in Myanmar, on Monday 17 March 2014 opened its new office in Yangon. This new office location will allow MNL to better serve existing and future partners and clients engaging in Myanmar.
Since its founding in 2012, MNL has closely followed the local markets, trends and investment climate, while working with Danish and other foreign partners within sectors such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Bio-Medical equipment, Real Estate, Fisheries and Tourism – acting in the capacity of facilitator, broker or through agency business as company representatives.
There is no doubt that Myanmar offers vast opportunities for Danish and other foreign companies, as the country has embarked on a course of irreversible economic, social and commercial growth. The EU has lifted its economic sanctions and now actively encourages European companies to trade and invest in Myanmar, while the GSP (Generalized System of Preferences) has also been re-instated, increasing the competitive edge of exporting goods from Myanmar to the EU.
Further, the new Foreign Investment Law (FIL) and Special Economic Zone Law (SEZL) puts in places attractive incentives for foreign investments in a broad range of fields, while the newly signed EU-Myanmar Investment Protection Agreement brings important guarantees and protection for EU investors regarding investments in Myanmar. Foreign confidence in doing business and investing in the future of the country is growing steadily, which is also evident from the rapid increase in trade between Myanmar and the EU.
