Alongside growing Cambodian exports, Danish logistics company Damco opened a second CFS warehouse facility in Phnom Penh on April 5.
According to the Phnompenh Post, the 10,500-square-metre facility, on National Road 4, brings the company’s total warehousing capacity in Cambodia to 16,500 square metres.
“We have seen many new factories set up, especially in the garment sector, and Damco also sees the need to raise the level of our logistics services,” Damco Cambodia managing director Andy Lim said at the inauguration ceremony.
In January, the Post reported that the total value of Cambodia’s exports had risen 10.2 per cent to $5.48 billion last year, compared with $4.97 billion in 2011.
But a lack of infrastructure and high electricity costs were still challenges for the logistics industry in Cambodia, Damco Asia Pacific chief executive Karsten Breum said.
In Cambodia, Damco — part of the AP Moller-Maersk Group — works with clients such as Adidas, Puma and Levi’s.
