Danish Ambassor met with Vietnamese Prime Minister

On 18 December Danish Ambassador H.E. Mr Kim Højlund Christensen paid a courtesy call to the Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, following up on the PM’s successful official visit to Denmark in late October.

During the meeting, Ambassador Christensen conveyed sincere thanks from the Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc for his participation in the P4G Summit as well as for the constructive bilateral talks on the same occasion. Prime Minister Phuc on his side passed on many greetings to the Danish Prime Minster and to the Danish Queen and her family, acknowledging the historic ties between the Royal Family and Vietnam as the Queen’s late husband spent years of his childhood and youth in Hanoi.

Both dignitaries acknowledged the long-term friendship and full-fledged bilateral relations between Denmark and Vietnam and agreed to work to strengthen them even further in the future. The need for expanding bilateral trade in an increasingly stable and transparent investment environment was emphasized. The Ambassador expressed his expectations that the Free Trade Agreement between EU and Vietnam would contribute to a positive development. He stressed that Denmark is very much in favor of the FTA, not least in these during these times where free trade is being put under pressure from certain players.

Prime Minister Phuc accentuated that he would be very pleased to receive the Danish Prime Minister on a return visit to Vietnam.
