Copenhagen awarded funding under its EUDP programme to the two-year FarmOpt project, which includes Chinese partners North-West Investigation and Design Institute and Hohai University and which will investigate wind farm design in complex terrains.

DTU director Peter Hauge Madsen said work would lead to “improved models to calculate and optimise the benefits of wind farms developed in mountainous regions”.

The R&D is largely software based featuring both the WAsP and WindPro systems.

EUDP cash is designed at fostering Danish business in China and also supported a smart grid project with around Dkr3m in funding.
