Denmark and Vietnam discuss administrative reforms at the local level

On November 27, Danish Ambassador and Vietnamese local administrative officials held the first ‘Policy Dialogue.’ They met to discuss policy and strategic issues concerning Public Adminstrative Reforms (PAR) implementation and its priorities in 2013.

The Policy Dialogue was opened by the Vice Minister of Home Affairs, Nguyen Tien Dinh, and the Danish Ambassador, John Nielsen, under the Danish-supported Good Governance and PAR Programme (GOPA II, 2012-2015). This is the first time such a policy dialogue takes place. It marks an important step towards strengthening the linkages between PAR implementation at the local levels and the coordination and directions at the central level.

The leaders of the Danish International Development Agency-supported five provinces; Lào Cai, Lai Châu, Điện Biên, Đắk Lắk, Đắk Nông, MOHA, and the Danish Embassy had an interesting and productive discussion on policy and strategic issues in relation to PAR implementation in the localities.

Specific PAR priorities in 2013 were identified for the five provinces with the overarching goal of further improving the efficiency of the public administration system to better serve the needs of citizens and businesses.
