The Norwegian Consulate General has received an invitation to participate in the 11th Shanghai International Suzhou Creek Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament. This will be held on May 30th (Friday) and May 31st (Saturday) right before the Dragon Boat Festival (this year’s dragon boat festival will be on June 2nd).
Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival. Racing dragon boat and eating Zongzi (sticky rice dumpling) are what Chinese People do to celebrate this festival. This year, the Consulate General would
like to organize a Norway Team to join in this traditional Chinese celebration.
However, your participation is needed to make this possible.
The team needs 14 members: 1 team manager/coach, and 13 athletes (1 drummer, 1 steersman, 10 paddlers, and 1 substitute). The preliminary competition will be held on May 30th, around 14:00 in the afternoon. And the official competition will be on Saturday May 31st. There will be a training course during one of the weekends before the competition.
The organizer will provide accommodation and transportation in Shanghai for all the team members. For those who live in Shanghai or those who don’t need accommodation, you will get subsidy for that. The
winning teams will be awarded medals, certificate and money.
