dtac TriNet won 1800 MHz spectrum license

Total Access Communication Public Company Limited, or dtac, announced on 19 August that dtac TriNet has won a license for 2x5MHz on the 1800 MHz band in the auctions held by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) for spectrum licensing for telecommunications service. dtac’s auction win, at a price of 12.511 billion baht, was officially endorsed by the NBTC.

“Acquiring 1800 MHz spectrum as part of dtac’s current spectrum portfolio will not only allow dtac to maintain 2G service for a large base of customers but will also provide 4G network capacity to serve the massive growth of data usage,” said Mr. Lars Norling, dtac CEO.

Mr. Norling added: “We would like to express our appreciation to the government and NBTC for the successful auction arrangement and the wide consultative process. dtac is also confident that NBTC, who has a joint responsibility with dtac, will provide consumers with a protection plan for uninterrupted services after the expiration of concession.”
