Finland pledges to maintain supports for Vietnam

The Finnish government will continue its supports for Vietnam’s economic growth and poverty reduction, said Kimmo Lahdevirta, Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam, in a recent meeting in Hanoi.

Regarding the bilateral diplomatic relationship, Kimmo Lahdevirta said he would do his best to foster the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, the Vietnam News Agency quoted the Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam as saying at the 2nd congress of the Vietnam-Finland Friendship Association (VFFA).

The congress, which is held to review the association’s operations during the 2007-2012 term and set the orientations and tasks for the next 2013-2018 term, also elected a 32-member executive committee led by Ha Cong Tuan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, the General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, has praised the association’s efforts in promoting peace, solidarity and people-to-people friendship with Finland over the past years, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The VFFA, which was founded on May 15, 2006 with the aim of intensifying the solidarity, friendship and understanding between the two nations and peoples, has been bridged Vietnam-Finland cooperation in culture, education, science-technology, and economics-trade.
