The trial of a Finnish man charged with attempting to hijack a Cathay Pacific flight has begun in Hong Kong. The South China Morning Post reports that the plane’s crew claim the man brandished a large stick of chocolate like a sword and claimed that there was a bomb on board the plane.
The 23-year-old man from Finland is accused of trying to hijack his Cathay Pacific plane en route from Amsterdam to Hong Kong on February 14, demanding that the plane fly to Sochi in Russia so he could attend the Winter Olympics there. The trial was first reported on April 18 by the Hong Kong paper South China Morning Post.
