Phuket police said a 25-year-old Finnish tourist was killed after he was hit by a car while crossing a street early in the morning of 22 February, according to Phuket Gazette.
Police said the Finn, identified as Robin Straka, sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital.
But doctors were unable to save him.
Police quoted eyewitnesses as saying Straka had crossed the Kalim-Kamala Road to use the ATM at a Tesco Lotus at about 1am. On his return, he suddenly stopped walking when he was hit by a car.
Police said they have charged the driver, whose name was not given, with reckless driving causing death.
