Finnish Valmet lands two Chinese million-euro orders

It has been a significant week for Valmet. On 19th August the Finnish pulp and paper supplier announced their 110 million-euro order from Chinese Huanggang Chenming Pulp & Paper. 5 days later they another announced its second Chinese order valued in the vicinity of 40-50 millions euros.

Finnish Valmet will supply main equipment to Chinese Huanggang Chenming Pulp & Paper’s new pulp mill in China. The new pulp mill is expected to start up in 2017 and is designed for flexible production to respond to market development.

This pulp mill will be the world’s largest dissolving pulp producer, and the order shows the customer’s trust on Valmet’s know-how in pulp and dissolving pulp technology,” says Bertel Karlstedt, President of Valmet’s Pulp and Energy Business Line.

Valmet will also supply another Chinese company Lee & Man too. They will complete Lee & Man’s containerboard production line in Jiang Xi, and while both parties declined to reveal the total of the contract, such agreements are typically valued in the vicinity of 40-50 million euros. Lee & Man has already experienced Valmet doing a great job. This is Valmet’s 10th OptiConcept M production line they have supplied to Lee & Man since 2012.

With good combination of local and imported know-how Valmet has shown its capability in earlier projects,” comments Edmond Lee, Lee & Man’s CEO. “Lightweighting is a trend in containerboard business and Valmet’s technology is very suitable for these grades.

This production line is set to be operational in the last quarter of 2016.
