The Indonesian community in Sweden gathered for Indonesia Day 2026 in Stockholm on Saturday, 22 August.
The Indonesian Embassy hosted the celebration at Wisma Duta, the ambassador’s official residence. The event formed part of activities marking the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.
Guests experienced traditional dance, music, food, games and fashion under the theme “Indonesia Together.”
The programme included the Balinese Pendet dance, the Topeng Kelana mask dance and a performance of Ratoh Jaroe, a traditional group dance from Aceh. Visitors were also introduced to the angklung, an Indonesian musical instrument made from bamboo.
Indonesian community organisations, musicians and participants from the embassy’s Indonesian-language classes contributed to the programme. A food bazaar offered visitors an opportunity to sample Indonesian dishes.
The embassy thanked the performers, volunteers and guests who participated in the celebration.
