Malaysian-Norwegian singer, DJ, and creative director Merete Mei-Jin Noer — previously featured on ScandAsia as Miraculous Mera — has returned to Southeast Asia to film and promote her upcoming single Lari, a bilingual track set to launch her artistic rebirth under the name Meramanja.
Now based in Asia for a month-long creative project, Meramanja has been filming music content across Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Singapore, and Kota Kinabalu. Her latest single Lari—which means run in Malay—is a collaboration with UK-based producer Homdiggy and blends underground hip-hop with Southeast Asian soul. The song explores love, longing, and the emotional momentum of chasing connection across distance and culture.
To preview the track, Meramanja is hosting a listening party this Thursday 24 April at Mesa on 51, located atop the Permata Sapura Tower in Kuala Lumpur. The event, part of the venue’s Secret Sessions, will feature DJ sets and live performances by both Meramanja andperformances by both Meramanja and Mesa´s resident DJ- starting at 8 PM and running until late.

The release of Lari is backed by a strong regional marketing campaign combining visual storytelling, TikTok challenges, lyric breakdowns, and fan interaction—aimed at building Meramanja’s presence across Southeast Asia and Norway. DJs in Malaysia have already test-played the track ahead of release, and Meramanja recently met with Sandy Monteiro, former President of Universal Music Asia, to explore future collaborations.
Merete now channels her spirit of resilience into her music. With Lari, she is running full-speed into the next chapter—bridging her Nordic and Southeast Asian roots through sound, storytelling, and bold performance.
