Ethiopian Cargo targets seafood industry with new Guangzhou-Oslo freighter service

The import of seafood from Norway to China will soon get a bit easier. Ethiopian Airlines will in September deploy a Boeing 777-200 freighter from Avinor Oslo Airport to Guangzhou according to the STAT Trade Times.

The new route increases the competitiveness of Norwegian seafood to China. Norway is already expected to generate more than 230,000 tons of seafood airfreight in 2018.

“We are pleased that our partners in Ethiopian Airlines will offer new freight capacity from Oslo airport. This is important for the development of the Norwegian seafood industry and will contribute to employment and economic growth,” said Martin Langaas, director Cargo at Avinor Oslo Airport.

Solomon Begashaw, director Global Cargo Sales in Ethiopian Cargo, says he also looks forward to offering the Norwegian market new cargo capacity to China.

Ethiopian Cargo and Avinor Oslo airport will host a two-day workshop at Oslo Airport to prepare for the startup of the route in the end of August .
