Norway advocated women role in Myanmar

On June 24, Ambassador of Norway to Yangon Tone Tinnes signed an agreement together with Chair of Alliance for Gender Inclusion in the Peace Process (AGIPP) Daw May Sabe Phyu to support AGIPP’s project on gender inclusion in the peace process in Myanmar.

As one of the key partners of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Yangon, AGIPP developed its latest project to boost the participation of women from diverse backgrounds who work relatively in the peace process and aspire to see equitable society in Myanmar.

Ensuring the involvement of women in peace and security work is also the critical commitment of Norway’s action plan on Women, Peace and Security agenda.

According to the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Yangon, one of Norway’s attempts in supporting women role in Myanmar was to supporte actors who are seeking to increase the number of women representation in political and peace processes in Myanmar.
