Norway supports Institute for Peace and Democracy in Bali

Norwegian Ambassador to Indonesia Stig Traavik signed in November an agreement with Institute for Peace and Democracy in Bali (IPD) to support IPD’s projects in building democracy and sustainable peace in Myanmar.
Norway will support two projects: one on supporting Myanmar’s parliament to become more representative, and  transparant through sharing of experiences. The second is on Political Leadership Training where the purpose is to improve the leadership skills of  young political activists and to promote cooperation between political parties. The projects will engage members of political parties, members of parliament, journalists and academics.

“The Norwegian Embassy is very pleased to cooperate with IPD, an institute we have supported since its establishment. Norway encourages exchange of experiences between Indonesia and its neighbouring friends and this is an important outreach to Myanmar. Hopefully this cooperation can stimulate learning for everyone involved” says the Norwegian Ambassador Stig Traavik.
