The Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) will continue clearing bombs and mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) left from the war in Thua Thien-Hue province.
Jonathan Guthrie, NPA Country Director for Vietnam, made the statement during a field trip to the central province on January 30.
He thanked the provincial administration and relevant agencies for supporting his organisation’s operation in the locality over the years.
Le Truong Luu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, appreciated the Norwegian organisation’s operations, reducing explosion risks and creating uncontaminated soil for production activity.
NPA recently committed more than US$1.6 million to a 2012-2014 land mine clearance project in Huong Tra town and Phong Dien district.
