O’Learys continues its expansion in Asia with second Changi Airport outlet

The Swedish sports bar/restaurant franchise O’Learys is expanding in Asia. A second O’Learys Sportsbar & Grill has opened (May 2015) at Singapore Changi Airport. at Terminal 1, O’Learys has since 2007 been a popular concept at the airport’s Terminal 2.

“O’Leary’s feels like ‘Your Second Living Room’ and therefore makes people feel at home no matter how far from home they are,” says Wilhelm Vintilescu, CEO of O’Leary’s Trademark. “It’s one of the reasons that the concept works so well in the international airport environments.”

The sports bar is open around the clock and offers food and drink for all hours. It offers 110 seats spread over 230 square meters.

Franchisee for O’Learys at Changi Airport is SSP Group, the Asia Pacific division. Overall, SSP is franchisee to 18 O’Learys restaurants at airports in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Abu Dhabi, China and Singapore.

SSP captured of a three-year contract with the airport earlier this year estimated to be worth sales of £4.2 million over the term.

O’Learys – The No1 Sportsbar – is a Swedish franchise chain founded in 1988 in Gothenburg by the restaurateur Jonas Reinholdsson. Today there are 100 restaurants in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Turkey, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, China and Vietnam. In 2015, the chain plans to open around 20 new restaurants.
