More than 50 Singaporean submarine sailors being part of the close submarine collaboration between Sweden and Singapore was invited to a reception at the Swedish Residence in Singapore, recently hosted by the Swedish Ambassador Ingemar Dolfe.
Most submariners lived a couple of years together with their families in the Swedish naval town of Karlskrona during their training. The submariners appreciated their time in Karlskrona and the training at the 1st Submarine Flotilla, and they returned with their families to Singapore with a positive impression of Sweden.
In his welcome address, the Ambassador emphasized the significance of the strong bilateral co-operation in the marine sector and expressed hope for continued close contacts. Close bilateral cooperation between Sweden and Singapore also exist in areas such as trade, education and research.
