Consulate General of Sweden launches new music platform in Shanghai

On March 23, the Consulate General of Sweden arranged the event “Sino Swedish Sounds”’ –an event aimed to create more cooperation possibilities for Sweden and China within the field of music.

The event brought together some 100 international, as well as local music professionals and artists to discuss current trends and developments in the music/music video industry in China and Sweden.

Two speakers from Sweden, Ms Elisabet Widlund, the CEO of Music Sweden, an organization that assemble the Swedish music industry, and Mr Mikael Gustafsson (Mikeadelica), a director, producer and photographer from Stockholm, had been invited especially to present what Sweden have to offer within the field of music.

From the Chinese side, singer/song writer/producer/actress Tian Yuan and DJ/event organizer Zhang You Dai shared their perspectives on the development of the Chinese music scene.

A panel discussion followed the presentations, engaging specially invited music guests such as pop star Li Quan, Midi festival founder Zhang Fan, and several other music critics, festival organizers, artists and DJs.

The event finished off with a large-scale concert for 1500 people. Two Swedish bands, Amanda Mair and Kite, and three Chinese artists, Tian Yuan, Li Quan & B6, and Top Floor Circus, performed for an excited audience.

The Consulate General of Sweden has created the platform “Sino Swedish Sounds” in an attempt to create more cooperation and communication between the music industry in Sweden and China.
