Swedish automotive safety leader Autoliv, Inc. is set to start operations at its new airbag cushion plant in Quang Ninh province, northern Vietnam, in November 2025. The facility, located in the Amata City Ha Long Industrial Park in Quang Yen town, represents an investment of $154 million. Once operational, it is expected to produce approximately 10 million automotive safety products annually, primarily for export.

Construction, equipment installation, and worker training are currently underway, with completion anticipated by February. As of 3 February 2025, all Autoliv Vietnam staff and contractors have resumed work post-Lunar New Year to ensure the project’s timely progress.

The Swedish Embassy in Hanoi highlighted the plant’s significance, noting that it will produce airbag cushions and fabric to meet the growing demand in Asia. Covering 90,000 square meters, the facility is expected to create up to 2,000 jobs in Quang Ninh, further solidifying Vietnam’s role in global manufacturing.

In January, Autoliv Vietnam initiated a recruitment drive for various positions, including cut workers, beam threaders, warehouse staff, team leaders, and sample room workers, with roles available immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday.

Autoliv officially began construction of the plant on July 10, 2023, with Investcorp serving as the main contractor responsible for design and construction.
