Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf said he valued Sino-Sweden relations highly, and would keep supporting bilateral cooperation when he accepted on Thursday credentials from the new Chinese Ambassador to Sweden.
King Carl XVI Gustaf said he had visited China several times since the 1980s, when he was impressed by the “very industrious and creative” Chinese. He expressed his willingness to visit China again in future.
King Carl XVI Gustaf accepted on Thursday morning credentials from Ambassador Chen Yuming, with whom he had a long and warm conversation in the Swedish Royal Palace.
He said he was impressed by the rapid development in China, which has risen as “one of the most important states”, with profound influences internationally. Sweden valued cooperation with China in many fields, particularly environment protection, which both countries face challenges and could cooperate for mutual benefits, he said.
Chen extended his gratitude for the King’s continuous help for bilateral cooperation. He said, despite the fact that he had only recently arrived in Sweden, he could feel the deep-rooted friendship the Swedes had for the Chinese people.
He said he was also impressed by the level of industries, creative capabilities and science and technologies, which complement China’s economy.
Chen, former Chinese Ambassador to Australia, arrived in Sweden on October 22nd.
