Swedish micro-insurance firm gains foothold in Cambodia

Ambassador Anna Maj Hultgård participated in the inauguration and blessing ceremony of the new office of Swedish company MILVIK/BIMA. BIMA offers the only mobile-delivered life insurance product in the market, now financially securing 50 000 families in Cambodia.

Milvik (Bima) is a young and dynamic microinsurance provider, specialising in distributing insurance to the underserved through mobile telecommunications and other alternative distribution channels in emerging markets.

The company has operations in eleven markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America, and are currently rolling out in several more markets. Our key investors include Swedish investment company Kinnevik, Millicom International and LeapFrog Investments. We are currently a relatively lean global team and more than 1000 local employees in total.

Milvik (Bima) is launching its operations in Cambodia, teaming up with a leading mobile operator to offer the first mobile insurance products in the country. Compensation will be comensurate with market rate.
