Sweden has highlighted its continuing knowledge exchange with the Philippines following the Sustainability Expo 2026 in Taguig City.
The expo, held on 5 August at the SMX Convention Center Aura, focused on circular economy initiatives, sustainable energy and technologies designed to strengthen disaster preparedness.
Among those moderating the discussions were Dr. Annabelle Briones and Dr. Francis Baleta from the Philippine Department of Science and Technology. Both previously participated in a study visit to Sweden and Denmark examining Nordic approaches to circular economy and sustainable urban development.
Team Sweden said their involvement reflected the continuing exchange of knowledge between Sweden and the Philippines in sustainability and disaster resilience.
The Swedish side also pointed to technologies offered by companies including Sweden-based Truxor Wetland Equipment and WingLift, as well as StormGeo, a Norwegian weather intelligence company owned by Swedish industrial group Alfa Laval.
Sustainability Expo 2026 was organised by the Department of Science and Technology, SM Prime Holdings and ARISE Philippines under the theme “Bayanihan Innovation for a Green and Resilient Philippines.”
The expo brought together government representatives, researchers, businesses and communities to present science-based responses to environmental and development challenges.
