Taiwanese wins best director at film festival in Sweden

Taiwanese filmmaker Chang Jung-chi captured the Best Director award for his 2012 drama “Touch of the Light” at the Peace and Love Film Festival in Sweden in June.

The Taiwanese film was among eight works competing for awards at Sweden’s largest film festival, according to the Taipei Mission in Sweden, Taiwan’s liaison office in the country. Lead actor Huang Yi-hsing and supporting actor Shan Liang jointly accepted the award on Chang’s behalf at the award presentation ceremony June 27, the final day of the five-day festival held in Borlange.

The festival’s Best Film award went to “Jeunesse” of France (Youth) while Esther Garrel from “Jeunesse” won the Best Talent award, according to the film festival’s Facebook page. The film “Touch of the Light,” which Chang spent two years making, features the dream-catching journey of a blind pianist and a dancer. It has also won awards at film festivals in Busan, South Korea, Taipei and Washington D.C.
