On Saturday May 24th, the second last SSS golf tournament was played. It was played at Alpine Golf and Country Club and this format was a bit different. You had a mens champion and a womens champion so the A and B groups were put together as a Women’s Championship and a Men’s Championship.
Amazingly enough – nobody managed to play at net par or better in either group
The men’s Club Champion was Juha Saarinen. Juha had an amazing 5 birdies in route to his net 73. Stefan De Haar came second with a net 74. Third place went to Dan Enstedt on a net 77 with one birdie. Fourth place went to our Golf Captain Kristian Wensell with a net 78.
The women’s competition was won on a net 78 by Petcharat Jiambutr and Malene Schmidt from the golf section took second place on a net 83.
The guest group was won by Sherry Fager whom did have a net 69 on the Callaway system including 3 birdies.
Erik Dahlstrom strengthened his hold on the putting competition by draining 2 birdies which included a birdie on the 18th hole with a beautiful wedge from 110 yards out after a mammoth drive.
For the season – the MVP winner is as mentioned earlier Bjarne Kjersner whom also took points in this competition after coming tied for 5th. His lead is now 22 points with only one competition left. Kenneth Hovmoller and Juha Saarinen are now duking it out for second place with Dan Enstedt and Erik Dahlstom still in with a chance for 2nd place.
Amazingly enough – Bjarne has taken points in every competition this year. His worst finish was this past weekends tied for 5th.
The putting league is being led by Erik Dahlstrom. His lead is slim with 3-4 players still in with a chance to overtake him.
As it stands now – the only two players that have played every competition this year are also the two that are standing to win the two trophies.
The next and final competition is the Danish Golf Day at Thana City GC. This will be played on the 7th of June. Please note that the sign up sheet is already open at www.zabaigolf.com
