Volvo Group opens new headquarter in Bangkok

The new Thai-headquarter is the latest sign of Volvo Group’s multibillion baht investments in Thailand. The opening was visited by the Thai Minister of Transport and the Swedish Ambassador to Thailand.

The new headquarter will not only be a flagship showroom for Volvo’s trucks but also Volvo Group’s subsidiary UD Trucks that targets customers in developing countries. According to Bangkok Post Thailand is Volvo Group’s global production base for Volvo- and UD trucks for export.

The opening of the new headquarter Thursday the 11th of December at Bang Na-Trat Road east of Bangkok also marks the end of a THB 5 billion investment in Thailand the last 5 years. According to Bangkok Post in 2009 Volvo Group invested THB 2 billion on expanding production capacity to 4,500 Volvo trucks and 20,000 UD Trucks annually. In 2011 they spent THB 3 billion on tripling the amount of showrooms to a total of 15 in Thailand.
