Norway Beat Thailand 1-0 in King’s Cup

Norway won the match against Thailand 1-0 on Wednesday at Rajamangala National Stadium, effectively destroying Thailand’s chances of winning the King’s Cup this year


Tore Reginiussen’s goal came late in the match. According to match reports, Norway dominated for long periods but could not break Thailand’s defence with goalkeeper Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool in good form and foiled attempts by Markus Henriksen, Tarik Elyounoussi and Jo Inge Berget.

“However, the Norwegians regrouped and Henriksen came close to breaking the deadlock on several occasions,” the paper reports.


“With seven minutes to go, a Magnus Eikrem free-kick found Reginiussen whose close-range shot beat Sinthaweechai. Surachart Sareepim almost got an equaliser but his attempt was denied by Norway goalkeeper Espen Pettersen.”


“The hosts threw everything at the visitors in the dying moments but failed to find the back of the net.”


The paper quotes Norway coach Elgil Olsen for saying:


“We were a bit lucky. I am impressed by Thailand’s performance. They played well in the second half.”
