King Harald and Queen Sonja on state visits to Singapore and Vietnam

Norway’s King Harald and Queen Sonja kicks off the business part of their state visit to Singapore and Vietnam on 29 October by attending an Innovation Norway led plenary morning session at Shangri La Hotel in Singapore.
     This according to the latest 18th August 2004 update of the preliminary program, drawn up by Innovation Norway, for the business delegation.
     The Norwegian business delegation does however start their work the day before.
     Thursday the 28th will feature a breakfast briefing meeting at the Shangri La before the Norwegian Business Association Singapore (NBAS) holds meetings at Traders Hotel.
     After lunch on Thursday it is time for talks with the Economic Development Board of Singapore (EDB) and later on business to business meetings, which are a follow up to a pre-visit seminar in Norway.
     Participants will have a joint dinner in the evening.
     Friday’s seminars have three themes that run in parallel.
     The first is Maritime Business and Technologies, the second Liquefied Natural Gas and the third Norway as a tourist destination.
     A concert and a buffet dinner, with their majesties King Harald and Queen Sonja as guests of honour, round off the official business duties in Singapore.
     Saturday and Sunday are free to spend as one like it.
     For those that continue to Vietnam it is however possible to join a Hanoi bound charter flight which leaves Singapore on Sunday at 14.30.
     Innovation Norway stresses that anyone interested to be on this flight must mark this in the registration form.
     The Hanoi seminars will be held at Melia Hanoi Hotel, which also is the suggested place to stay.
     On Monday morning 1 November there is a seminar headlined ‘How to do business in Vietnam’, done in cooperation with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
     The afternoon is free and in the evening there is a joint dinner for the business delegation.
     Tuesday 2 November has a full schedule with parallel seminars on hydropower, oil and gas, maritime and fisheries technology and finally trade.
     Their majesties are guests of honour during the luncheon.
     The evening features a performance at the Hanoi Opera.
     On the 3rd there are business to business meetings and individual programs in Hanoi.
     Participants bound for Ho Chi Minh City should fly down there around lunchtime or in the afternoon.
     Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers – HCMC is the official venue in the south.
     Thursday 4th is another seminar filled day featuring two parallel sessions about technology advances in offshore petroleum exploration and development and maritime and fisheries technology.
     Their majesties are guests of honour at the luncheon.
     Joint dinner for the business delegation in the evening.
     On Friday the 5th, the last official business delegation day, participants visit an industrial park/exporting processing zone and a container port.
     Those that joined the previous day’s oil and gas oriented seminar will however have a final morning session ‘towards safe and clean petroleum operations’.
     The final item on the official business agenda is a joint buffet lunch.
     The full program for the Norwegian royals has not yet been made public in any way.
     Neither have any details about joining politicians been released yet.
