Nordic associations moving to one big office

Three of the four Nordic chambers of commerce in Thailand will this weekend Saturday 18 September move to larger, better and more functional premises on the fifth floor in an office building next to the Payathai skytrain station on the corner of Payathai and Sri Ayutthaya road near Victory Monument.

Within the same office, Scandinavian Society Siam will likewise establish its first office – after more than 80 years in operation(!) – after on an agreement was last week reached with the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce who is the lessee of the new office.

Also the Thai-Finnish Chamber of Commerce is expected to decide to move and join the other Nordic chambers at the new office. The question will be raised at the September board meeting and a decision is expected to be taken on the issue.

The move to joined premises is the realization of an old dream within the Nordic community in Thailand to establish a “Nordic House”. As for Scandinavian Society Siam it is even stated in its charter.

The first three chambers to move are Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce and Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce. The three chambers have since they were founded more than 10 years ago had a shared management arrangement with offices in three different locations – latest in Glas Haus on Sukhumvit Soi 25.
