Dane fights fire in Dauis alone

Danish Kasper Christiansen was the first to respond, when a fire burn down two houses in Dauis, Bohol, Philippines. While fighting the fire alone he sustained minor wounds.

According to philstar.com Kasper Christiansen used his own generator and a long plastic horse to fight the fire. He used seawater from the nearby Tagbilaran-Dauis channel trying to put off the blaze.

Later on, a fire truck from Tagbilaran City, about three kilometres from Dauis, arrived and later on another from nearby town of Panglao.

Christiansen said the presence of bystanders who grew in number, while he and others tried to prevent the fire from spreading, made the effort more difficult. Christiansen has been a resident of Dauis for four years.

As the fire subsided, thick white smoke hovered over the highway, the main hub to Panglao town (a nearby tourist destination), was closed for more than an hour because of the smoke.
