Swedish giant launches charity drive for children

Swedish furniture company Ikea has launched its 9th edition of the Ikea Soft Toys for Education Campaign where €1 purchased on soft toy products will be donated to Unicef and Save the Children projects.

Since its first launch in 2003, this campaign has collected €47.5mil (RM188.2mil) in total, and recently it raised €12.4mil (RM49mil) in 2011 for both NGOs.

Funds raised are donated to Unicef and Save the Children to support and extend their projects that benefit children through better schooling, such as creating child-friendly school environments with well-trained teachers for all children, not forgetting ethnic minorities and those with special needs.

To-date, the Ikea Soft Toys for Education Campaign has helped improve the lives of more than eight million children.

The campaign is ongoing until Dec 20, Malaysian customers can visit Ikea’s store in Petaling Jaya and see how one little toy can make a difference.
