Digi places new order with Ericsson

Ericsson has been selected by Malaysian operator DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DiGi) as prime supplier for upgrading and expanding their nationwide GSM/GPRS network with the high speed data transfer technology EDGE.
The acronym EDGE stands for Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution, a radio based high-speed mobile data standard. It allows data transmission speeds of 384 kbps to be achieved.
DiGi’s upgrade to EDGE will enable the operator to offer advanced data services to consumers. Ericsson was previously involved in the upgrade of DiGi’s EDGE network in Shah Alam and Klang (in the Klang Valley), as well as the northern and southern regions of the country.
