Vital Vietnamese impress King Harald

Norway’s royal couple, King Harald and Queen Sonja, ended their week long state visit to Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday 5 November.
     During their stay they met with Vietnamese General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, President Tran Duc Luong, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An.
     This was the first state visit to Vietnam by a Norwegian head of state and the occasion was described by Vietnamese leaders as an important milestone which will contribute to the enhancement of the friendship and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
     King Harald thanked the Vietnamese people for their warm hospitality and expressed his deep regard for their vitality.
     On the cultural side the royals visited a Vietnam-Norwegian contemporary fine arts exhibition, Vietnam’s Ethnology Museum, a Vietnamese-Norwegian education seminar and the imperial city Hue. Queen Sonja did also present several paintings by Norwegian painter Per Kleiva to the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.
