MAN B&W Diesel to transfer technology to Vinashin

Denmark’s MAN B&W Diesel A/S, a leading supplier of large diesel engines for ship propulsion systems, stationary power supply and rail traction, signed a contract on transferring ship manufacturing and assembling technology with the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) on November 8, in Hanoi.
The transfer will help Vietnam modernise its shipbuilding industry, raise the localization rate, take the initiative in providing engines for shipbuilding factories, come to export, and trim down cost by up to 30 percent compared to imported machines. It will also create conditions for Vietnamese shipbuilding workforce to approach and apply the modern technology.
Vinashin is the largest shipbuilder in Vietnam. Recently, Vinashin has also inked a joint venture agreement with Denmark’s Aalborg Industries to manufacture marine boilers in Vietnam.
